LIFEBUOY

• The inner diameter should not be less than 4oomm and the outer diameter should not be more than 800mm.
• Weight should not be less than 2.5 Kg.
• MOB lifebuoy’s weight should not be more than 4 kg.
• The diameter of the grab line should not be less than 9.5 mm & should be secured at 4 equidistant points.
• It should withstand 14.5 kg of Iron in FW for 24 hours.
• It should withstand from the height at which it is stowed or 30mtr whichever is greater.
• It should be constructed of inherent buoyant material.
• At least (half of the total number of lifebuoys) shall be provided with Self-igniting lights.
• At least two lifebuoys shall be fitted with self-activating smoke signals.
• At least one lifebuoy shall be placed in the vicinity of the stern.

Vessel’s length less than 100 meters = 8 Nos

   (100-150) greater than 100 meter = 10 Nos

   150-200) greater than 150 meters = 12 Nos

                     Greater than 200 meter = 14Nos

                                                      Under 60 meter = 8 Nos.

  More than 60 meters & less than 120 meters = 12 Nos.

More than 120 meters & less than 180 meters = 18 Nos.

More than 180 meters & less than 240 meters = 24 Nos.

                                          More than 240 meters = 30 Nos.
