Oral-Navigation (FUNCTION –1)

The following questions came from WhatsApp group where candidates posts the question right after they had finished their oral exam.
  • Keep the battery charged.
  • Check voltage and operate lamp once a week.
  • Check electrolyte level and its specific Gravity once a month.
  • Check for any corrosion in terminal and apply petroleum jelly to avoid corrosion.
  • At least two spare bulb should be stored.

NAVTEX:  English- 518 Khz, Regional language- 490 Khz, Tropical region- 4209.5 Khz

  • Gyro and magnetic compass may give unreliable reading, hence one GNSS (satellite) compass is required
  • At-least two speed and distance measuring device
  • Two Echo Sounder with an independent transducer
  • Two RADAR’s

  • Two search light with two spare lamps
  • A weather fascimile receiver and a spare antenna
